Amitabh Bachchan is a legend and his images and voices are often used for commercial purposes.
However, this will no longer be possible since the actor has acquired the security of his personality rights.
According to reports, Amitabh Bachchan recently filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court asking protection of his image, his name, his voiceand personality rights against the whole world.
According to ETimes, on Friday November 25, the court granted an injunction prevent people in general from infringing Bachchan’s publicity and publicity rights.
“It is undeniable that the applicant is a well-known personality and is also represented in various advertisements. Plaintiff is harmed by Defendants using his celebrity status to promote their own goods and services without his permission or authorization. After reviewing the complaint, I am of the opinion that a prima facie case is established,” the court would have said.
The HC also led the POINT and Ministry of Electronics and Informatics remove all links/websites that violate Bachchan attributes.
As The Indian Express reports, Senior Attorney Harish Salveappearing for Bachchan, revealed that some people were running a lottery using Bachchan’s name and the KBC logo, while others were selling T-shirts bearing his likeness.
“This nonsense has been going on for a while… there is a lottery in Gujarat where the defendant brazenly copied (the) KBC logo where his photographs are all over the place.”
– said the main lawyer.
The 80-year-old actor also filed for a restraining order against book publishers, t-shirt sellers and various other businesses.
According to reports, the case will be heard in March next year.
