Imlie actor Gashmeer Mahajani who is currently seen as a contestant on celebrity dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10 has landed a lead role opposite Nushrratt Bharuccha in director Chhori’s sequel to Vishal Fury. He will be seen playing the role of a cop in Chhori 2 and the actor shared his excitement to be a part of the project.
Talking about how he bagged the film, Gashmeer said Vishal directed him in a series a long time ago and ever since they wanted to collaborate again. The actor then praised the director for his incredible understanding of the horror genre and how he goes beyond the usual spooky and prosthetic make-up to tell the story that focuses more on script and characterization.
Gashmeer was already there when he learned that Vishal was directing the film. He didn’t even listen to the script and decided to make the movie within 10 minutes of narrating and understanding his character in the movie. He also said he had no qualms about appearing in an actress-led project.
“The film follows the heroine’s point of view. But among the male cast, it’s my character who supports her and goes through the journey with her. There is a lot of adventure, action and intrigue. I’m very excited that my character is layered and I can explore as an actor,” Gashmeer told TOI. Gashmeer also praised Nushrratt and recalled meeting her several times during script reading sessions. He found her to be a very sweet girl and a conscientious professional.
Not only that, but Gashmeer has also been finalized to play the male lead in Yash Patnaik’s supernatural love story. He said he would shoot for both simultaneously and they managed to manage his dates for the same. “It will be a Marathon shoot for me, as I will be commuting between Film City and Filmistan. It’s good to be busy! That’s exactly what an actor wants: continuous, good work and interesting characters and diverse,” he added.
Chhorii 2 is a sequel to his 2021 horror film released around the same time of year. In the first part of the film, Nushrratt played the role of a pregnant woman, haunted by the spirit of a slain pregnant woman, whose child was brutally murdered and she herself was left for dead after being charred by his in-laws. The film is a Marathi language film Lapachhapi (2017).
