IFFI 2022 Jury President Nadav Lapid made a controversial remark when he called Vivek Agnihotri’s film The Kashmir Files a “propaganda and vulgar” film. Film actors Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar and others strongly condemned the Israeli filmmaker’s remarks and spoke out on social media. Kashmir Files director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri wrote a cryptic tweet and wrote, “Truth is the most dangerous thing. It can make people lie. #CreativeConscience. Anupam Kher also tweeted saying, “No matter how high the lie.. It is still small compared to the truth.” Additionally, Israeli Ambassador to India Naor Gilon wrote an open letter to Israeli filmmaker Nadav Lapid after criticizing the film at the prestigious film festival. Israel’s envoy said Nadav should be ashamed of having abused the invitation to chair the IFFI. Envoy Naor Gilon apologized to India on Twitter. He wrote: “An open letter to #NadavLapid following his criticism of #KashmirFiles. It’s not in Hebrew because I wanted our Indian brothers and sisters to understand. It’s also relatively long so I’m going to first give you the end result. YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED. Here’s why.
